NMSU grad Àngel Peña leads the Las Cruces-based Nuestra Tierra Conservation Project to help local communities and kids enjoy safe outdoor spaces — his programs include the Outdoor Equity Fund and youth archaeological projects that spark local interest in conservation.

The Mesilla Valley Habitat for Humanity affiliate is building five single-family homes in the new Arcadia 4 Subdivision in northeast Las Cruces as part of a pilot initiative for attainable homeownership.
The city donated 25 serviced lots, and vertical construction could begin in May 2026.
