On Monday afternoon, eight tables at the Belton Bridge Center on Madrid Avenue filled with locals playing bridge as Dave Allen (a 74-year veteran since 1952) directed weekly games.
After COVID-19 paused gatherings, participation has grown as the center rebuilds community ties.
70 tables have been claimed for Rock the Runway 2026 (set for April 11, 7 p.m. at the Las Cruces Convention Center), and organizers say the fundraiser will sell out before showtime.
The event will support Hearts for Autism’s Camp Amigos summer program for children on the autism spectrum.
🎓 Education
Students at Explore Las Cruces finished second at the state chess championship on Feb.
6 in Albuquerque. The team built confidence through routine practice + teamwork, with captain Justice Holland helping teammates prepare for each match.
