The New Mexico State University Art Museum will host two exhibitions on Friday, March 27 at 5:30 p.m. at 1308 E.
University Ave., featuring the interactive exhibition Cameo running until July 18 and the 2026 Juried Student Show open until April 18, with student installations & live performance.
Bobbie Green, a longtime educator and NAACP branch president, credits her parents' work — a farmer and a cook who raised nine children — for inspiring her resilient spirit in Las Cruces.
As the first Black student at MacArthur Elementary, she now uses her experience to empower girls of color.

Students gathered on March 24 near Turtle Pond by Gerald Thomas Hall for a bake sale hosted by the Society of Women's Engineers to raise funds for travel and professional development for its members.
The event helped cover costs for conferences and networking (previously enabling 16 students to attend the annual Women in Engineering Conference).
🏛️ Government
City officials launched Plugged In For Good today to upgrade older homes for low-income residents with efficient cooling systems and weatherization improvements—helping create safer conditions during extreme heat.
Qualified homeowners are encouraged to contact the program to learn about available upgrades.
🏈 Sports
Centennial High School cheerleader Lorena Zamora earned second place at the state spirit championships and said she felt like a champion.
Coach Sabrina Zamora said the team's tight bond and senior core set the stage for future success.
NM State softball player Tamara Carranza earned Conference USA Player of the Week honors after a strong series against FIU, hitting for the cycle on Friday plus posting a .700 average and driving in three runs.
NM State women's basketball coach Adeniyi Amadou hired Asami Morita as associate head coach & recruiting coordinator to join the Crimson & White staff today.
Morita brings extensive experience from NCAA and international programs to boost recruiting efforts.
