CRIME NEWS

  • The FBI & Las Cruces Police Department are asking the public for help finding Daniel Guereca, a Hispanic male about 6 feet tall who robbed the PNC Bank at 3800 E Lohman Ave on Feb. 20 at 5:30 p.m., wearing a green hat, a black Adidas jacket with white stripes, a surgical mask, and glasses while taking an undisclosed amount of money, with a reward offered up to $2,000 for information.  Las Cruces Sun News
  • Tomas Rivas (20), the only adult arrested in the Young Park shooting that left three dead and 15 injured, was involved in a limited scuffle at the Doña Ana County Detention Center after his arrest on Sunday and guards quickly broke up the altercation as he remains in custody (facing a possible grand jury trial).  The Las Cruces Bulletin

CULTURE NEWS

  • The NMSU Theatre Arts and American Southwest Theatre Company will close their season with the musical The Prom — an uplifting production inspired by true events — at the NMSU Center for the Arts at 1000 E. University Ave, Las Cruces, running April 11–27 with a preview on April 10 and a show on April 11 at 7:30 p.m. The production brings together students, faculty, staff, and local artists to deliver a story of acceptance and self-discovery.  The Las Cruces Bulletin
  • Two New Mexico State University seniors, Yalet Yanar and Citlali Delgado, have been selected for Art Stop 2025 to display their work at bus stops on University Ave. and Jordan Rd. and at Valley Drive and Hadley Ave., with Yanar’s collage capturing her daily Las Cruces walk and Delgado’s painting using a purple prickly pear cactus to symbolize women’s resilience—an initiative bringing student art to public spaces.  The Las Cruces Bulletin
