The state Supreme Court reversed Cristal Cardenas’ convictions on March 27 for her role in an alleged murder-for-hire plot in Doña Ana County—ruling that prosecutors erred by questioning her about her six-month-old daughter’s methamphetamine test—and ordered a new trial.
The Bureau of Land Management is asking for public comment on a proposal to build two single-circuit 345‐kilovolt transmission lines near Las Cruces that will connect a solar project and battery energy system on private land to the grid—comments opened Friday, March 28 and will end April 28. If approved, El Paso Electric in partnership with EDF Renewables Distributed Solutions will build, operate, maintain and later decommission the line over less than half a mile of public land—local review will help shape the project's future.
Ron Galla field and Maag Park will reopen for normal operations on Monday, March 31 while the Hadley Sports Complex and Apodaca Softball Fields remain closed as the city works to stabilize light poles; the city also plans to allow daytime play on Paz and Harty fields in the coming weeks after clean-up efforts.
