Doña Ana County Senior Olympics celebrates healthy aging in Las Cruces since 1979 when about 85 athletes first competed; the volunteer-run program (60–80 volunteers annually) now offers events like track, swimming, pickleball, and shuffleboard that feed into state competitions.
At Arrowhead Early College High School on March 24, veterans and students gathered for a flag retirement ceremony led by the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 10.
The event taught patriotism and respect through readings and discussions about the flag’s symbolism — honoring service and sacrifice.
Local resident Shawna Pfeiffer nearly completes her container garden built from second-hand materials to plant summer veggies.
