  • The Boys & Girls Club of Las Cruces held a groundbreaking on April 9 for its $12M home at the former Video 4 Movie Theatre on El Paseo Rd. The 30,000 sqft facility will finish late 2027 and raised $8.3M, offering a gym, STEM lab, arts center and teen wing.  Las Cruces Sun News
  • Centennial High School junior Jordyn Campion, a Las Cruces native, removed 208 illegally dumped tires and organized a community cleanup for April 18 from 9 to 11 a.m. northeast of her school to encourage local environmental awareness.  The Las Cruces Bulletin

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Las Cruces International Film Festival ran April 8-12 at Allen Theaters and other city venues and marked its 11th year as a student-run event featuring 170 independent films, with award winners including Best New Mexico Film + Best International Film.  The Las Cruces Bulletin

  • Doña Ana Community College (DACC) earned Carnegie recognition as an Opportunity College, with officials saying its support services help many local students, including Santiago Diaz, boost long-term earnings in fields such as health care, construction, and water technology.  The Las Cruces Bulletin

SPORTS NEWS

  • NM State baseball pitched strongly Tuesday night at Presley Askew Field, beating New Mexico 6-1 and boosting its home win streak (six consecutive victories). The win improves the Aggies’ record while setting a positive tone for the season.  The Las Cruces Bulletin
  • The New Mexico State men's golf team finished ninth at the regular season tournament at Mossy Oak Golf Club with a total round score of 884 (288, 301, 295), led by Mateo Payán’s standout 212 as the Aggies competed against a strong field.  The Las Cruces Bulletin
