Las Cruces and Doña Ana County are urging residents to complete a national community survey (33 questions taking less than 20 minutes) that will help guide local government decisions; the online survey remains available anonymously until Thursday, May 8.
A wind-driven fire destroyed a mobile home in the 2800 block of Glass Road on Sunday, April 27 and Las Cruces and Doña Ana County firefighters responded at about 3:45 p.m. to control the blaze which spread flames over 300 yards and exposed hazards from a propane tank, live power lines and a nearby home; the fire was under control in about 30 minutes with no reported injuries.
The Crossing Borderlines exhibition will open on May 2 with a reception from 5–9 p.m.—and it will run throughout May at Nopalitos Galeria on 326 S.

Ammu Devasthali, a native of India who moved to Las Cruces in 1987, was appointed by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham in 2019 to the NMSU board of regents and now serves as its chair+ she was reappointed in 2022 to a full six‑year term.
She earned art degrees, opened an art studio and jewelry business, and led campaigns to raise funds for the ASNMSU Center for the Arts and Devasthali Hall+ her work supports higher education.
