- ➤ A Las Cruces Police officer shot and killed a man and injured another near Lynn Middle School at 6:30 a.m. on May 8 — the officer was placed on paid administrative leave as an investigation by local and state agencies continues. Las Cruces Sun News
- ➤ A Las Cruces officer-involved shooting occurred on May 8 at about 6:30 a.m. in the 900 block of Walnut Street, where one man died and another was injured — the officer has been placed on paid administrative leave while investigators from multiple agencies continue to probe the incident. - ➤ Las Cruces Police Department launched Operation Not in Vain on April 28—named in honor of fallen Officer Jonah Hernandez—that in its first week led to 37 felony arrests, 36 misdemeanor arrests, three recovered stolen vehicles, and seizures of 2.4 grams of methamphetamine, 55 fentanyl pills and one firearm.
