Good morning, Las Cruces. Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 20th of May.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • County Manager Scott Andrews announced plans during the State of the County Address to upgrade the Fairgrounds with a seasonal ice skating rink (a request for proposals has been issued to select a private company to manage it from late November to February). The old K-Mart building will be converted into a family entertainment center with 24 lanes (6 duckpin lanes available for kids) and indoor pickleball courts, with some attractions set to open by September or October and full completion planned by mid next year.  The Las Cruces Bulletin

BUSINESS NEWS

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Homeschooling is growing in Las Cruces as public school enrollment has dropped by more than 1,000 after low math and reading scores raised concerns. Local families now join homeschool groups that offer shared classes, park days, and field trips—tailoring learning to each child's needs.  The Las Cruces Bulletin

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • New Mexico set a course for a cleaner future by passing the Community Benefit Fund Senate Bill 48 and Innovation in State Government Fund Senate Bill 83, which invest in local clean energy projects and job creation—lawmakers plan to work on stricter emission targets with the Clear Horizons Act.  The Las Cruces Bulletin

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • April's real estate report showed that closed home sales in Doña Ana County dropped by 18 per cent from last year while inventory increased by 10 per cent and interest rates briefly passed 7 per cent, which may have delayed some purchases. Las Cruces homeowners still enjoyed a ninety-six per cent list to sale ratio as buyers took more incentives from sellers and builders—this shift may signal a move toward a buyer-friendly market soon.  The Las Cruces Bulletin

Learn from this investor’s $100m+ mistake

In 2010, a Grammy-winning artist passed on investing $200K in an emerging real estate disruptor. That stake could be worth $100+ million today.

One year later, another real estate disruptor, Zillow, went public. This time, everyday investors had regrets, missing pre-IPO gains.

Now, a new real estate innovator, Pacaso – co-created by Zillow’s co-founder – is disrupting a $1.3T market. Through their recent growth round, you can invest in Pacaso as a private company.

Pacaso’s co-ownership model has generated $1B+ in luxury home sales and service fees, earned $110M+ in gross profits to date, and received backing from Maveron, Greycroft, and more. They even reserved the Nasdaq ticker PCSO.

Invest in Pacaso for $2.90/share today.

This is a paid advertisement for Pacaso’s Regulation A offering. Please read the offering circular at invest.pacaso.com. Reserving a ticker symbol is not a guarantee that the company will go public. Listing on the NASDAQ is subject to approvals.
