  • On March 15, customers lined up at North Main Street's Dutch Bros drive-thru to support the annual Drink One for Dane fundraiser for ALS research. The event honored co-founder Dane Boersma, with $1 from each drink sold going to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.  The Las Cruces Bulletin
  • Serenity Cerros-Robb, a seventh grader at Mesilla Valley Leadership Academy, turned her passion for making jewelry and sewn goods into a growing local business. She sells her handmade items at farmers markets and community events with prices ranging from $5 to $15.  The Las Cruces Bulletin
  • Hundreds of motorcycles joined Run for the Wall in Las Cruces on May 14 as veterans and supporters stopped over during their ride to Washington, D.C., honoring service members. Riders gathered at Elks Lodge No. 1119 with decorated bikes and shared memories of those lost in combat.  The Las Cruces Bulletin

CULTURE NEWS

  • On May 14, the New Mexico State University Theatre Department and the American Southwest Theatre Company (ASTC) held an awards dinner at NMSU to honor students for their work on shows during the 2025-26 season.   • This year marks the 75th anniversary of the State Theater, a cherished venue that opened in 1941 and has long provided live dramas, musicals, and comedies for local audiences. The community theater now preserves its Art Deco charm as it continues staging performances.  The Las Cruces Bulletin
  • Families attended the 26th Annual Blessing of the Fields on May 15 at the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum as faith leaders, farming families & community members joined a procession along an acequia to honor agriculture and reflect on enduring traditions amid water challenges.  The Las Cruces Bulletin
  • Mia Lopez Berkson — a recent Organ Mountain High School graduate — won Best Actress at the 2026 Enchantment Awards held at Popejoy Hall, while fellow student Troy Ainsworth was named Best Supporting Actor.   • The Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico celebrated 149 scholarship recipients (awarded over $166,000) to help support their studies and dreams. Donors made a generous investment in education that will build a stronger community.  The Las Cruces Bulletin

  • Mesilla Valley Christian boys golf team won its fifth state championship by clinching the Class A/3A tournament on May 11 at Turtleback Mountain Golf and Resort — the team turned a one-stroke lead into a 31-stroke win and credited its strong brotherhood.  The Las Cruces Bulletin
