MountainView Regional Medical Center implanted a dual chamber leadless pacemaker, making it the first facility in southern New Mexico to use this device.
The pacemaker is placed with an incision in the groin with two small capsules instead of wires — a method that lowers infection risk and makes it more comfortable for patients.
🏈 Sports
Jerry Hinsley, a Las Cruces High School graduate who grew up in town after his family moved from Oklahoma, had an eight-year Major League Baseball career as a pitcher after being drafted in 1963 and debuting with the New York Mets in 1964.
His high school team won three state championships, drawing MLB scouts to the town — a unique milestone for a local athlete — and marking him as the first local player to reach the majors.
