- ➤ A New Mexico State University research team at the Apache Point Observatory has advanced a lunar laser project that sends ultra-short laser pulses to the moon to help NASA measure its distance more accurately—this effort is backed by a new retroreflector placed in March and will guide safe lunar landings in upcoming Artemis missions like Artemis III set for 2027.
