🌲 Environment
Local public land activists in Las Cruces cheered when a Senate vote removed a bill that would have sold millions of acres, including parts of the Organ Mountains—Desert Peaks National Monument.
Friends of the monument say they have won a battle for public lands, but they fear similar proposals will come back in the future.
🏛️ Government
The City of Las Cruces is partnering with El Paso Electric and Forth Mobility to launch an electric vehicle car sharing program this fall that lets drivers 21 and older rent one of two EVs for $5 per hour or $50 per day.
The program will run through the end of 2026 — with on-site and public charging available to support cleaner air.
