ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A Doña Ana County sheriff's deputy — Antonio Aleman — died on Tuesday, July 8 after his patrol vehicle collided with a semi-truck on eastbound I-10 near Avenida De Mesilla around 5 p.m. and his body was taken to the Office of Medical Investigators as investigators continue reviewing the crash. - ➤ The New Mexico Supreme Court sided with Attorney General Raúl Torrez by quashing a lower court order that would have required a juror to testify in former Las Cruces Police Officer Brad Lunsford’s case—Lunsford was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter in February after the 2023 shooting death of Presley Eze and his defense had asked for a new trial citing juror bias. - ➤ The Las Cruces City Council approved the El Paseo and S. Solano Metropolitan Redevelopment Area Plan at its June 7 meeting—an internal committee will form soon and a Safety Improvement Program is set to launch in September with $100,000 in funding.
