For 42 years, El Caldito Soup Kitchen has served hearty meals and built community by offering daily breakfast and lunch plus hosting the popular Empty Bowls fundraiser.

Founded by local churches in 1984 and supported by volunteers and donations, it gives hope and purpose to many locals.

The Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce named Debbi Moore as its new president and CEO, and she began the role in early May after 14 years leading the Rio Rancho Regional Chamber of Commerce, as announced on June 24.

She replaces Bill Allen.

Jorge Martinez-Rios—music director of the Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra—left a planned law career after a summer music festival in Morelia revealed his passion for music.

He spent seven years studying music and now supports local audiences with concerts that blend masterworks and new discoveries.

Next month, the Las Cruces Convention Center will host the Oldies Show and Dance Party headlined by Sonny Ozuna and Tierra Legacy, with opening act S.A.

Joseph Vasquez, a Las Cruces native who trains at Crunch Gym, won his first bodybuilding competition at the 2025 Albuquerque Open by taking first in the debut, novice, and overall open events; his victory earned him a Pro Card (drug-tested) and he now prepares for a December competition in San Antonio.
