🎭 Culture
The Fountain Theatre, operated by the Mesilla Valley Film Society, has served as a local cultural hub since 1905 (its adobe walls date to the 1870s).
It began with live plays and silent films with live music and now uses digital projection to show independent films, preserving a family legacy.
The Fort Bayard Historic Preservation Society is working with the Village of Santa Clara and local legislators to preserve the National Historic Landmark and advance its Master Plan for future use.
A museum at the former commanding doctor's home is open (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) on Saturdays and Sundays during summer.
🏈 Sports
Five NM State players + TK King, Sone Aupiu, Henry Davis III, Gabe Peterson and Brody Richter were named to the Conference USA preseason watch list, with the Aggies set to open the season against Florida State on Aug.
29 and host Mercyhurst on Sept. 5 at Aggie Memorial Stadium.
