On July 27, Las Cruces Police responded to an alleged domestic violence call on Embassy Drive where an officer discharged his firearm, arresting a man who suffered non life threatening injuries while no officer was hurt and the street was closed for the investigation (a press conference is scheduled for later this week).

Las Cruces Police identified 21-year-old Dominic Gage Martinez as the suspect in an officer-involved shooting on July 27 in the 1900 block of Embassy Drive after an officer fired a shot and used non-lethal force to subdue him—he faces charges of aggravated assault, resisting or obstructing, and assault on a household member, was treated at a local hospital, and booked into the county detention center. Police will hold a news conference at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 31 in City Council Chambers to share additional details.
