No Strings Theater Company celebrates 25 years in Las Cruces as it prepares an upcoming season with a mix of familiar plays and offbeat works selected by artistic director Ceil Herman, who directs three productions and works with guest directors for the remaining shows.

The theater, fueled by volunteers and donations, aims to attract audiences with productions such as Frankenstein + plays based on Jane Austen and Stephen King.

The New Mexico-Texas Majors from Las Cruces won the Cooperstown All-Star Village tournament in mid-July in Cooperstown by going undefeated and setting historic milestones as the first New Mexico team to win as a 1-seed.

Coach Sal Gomez said the team, which brought home a trophy and rings, will next compete in the Cal Ripken Series in Orlando in the future — a step that honors their strong performance and local talent.
