🚨 Crime
Las Cruces and Doña Ana County are under alert for high drug overdoses that began in early August—Las Cruces recorded 21 cases in three weeks including two fatal instances, and drug intelligence officers suspect fentanyl and carfentanil may be involved while additional cases may be unreported.
🏛️ Government
The City of Las Cruces will receive $11,075,000 from state funds to expand affordable housing as part of a $120 million statewide investment.
The city has identified six potential projects and will use the funds on shovel-ready work before June 2026 to support local housing efforts.
🏈 Sports
After eight months of offseason preparation, the Aggies will open the 2025 season by hosting Bryant at Aggie Memorial Stadium on Saturday at 7 p.m. MT—head coach Tony Sanchez said the team is eager to secure its first back-to-back season-opening wins in nearly 20 years.
