ECONOMY NEWS

  • A new study by CoworkingCafe ranked Las Cruces 9th among small cities for economic growth by examining factors such as new business applications, GDP growth, and median earnings. The study found that export activity jumped 107% — the highest among small cities — and the local economy grew 31% from 2019 to 2023.  The Las Cruces Bulletin

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Las Cruces detachment of the Marine Corps League swept the state honor guard competition in Albuquerque — winning all three team sizes for the first time in 16 years. They will host the next Military Honors Training Conference and Competition in Las Cruces in April 2026.  The Las Cruces Bulletin
  • At its August 25 meeting, the Las Cruces City Council discussed spending the $11.5 million extra from last November’s gross receipt tax increase on projects to improve streets, parks, public facilities, and public safety. Community meetings will be held in September and October and a final decision is set for November.  The Las Cruces Bulletin
  • The Las Cruces City Council approved a two-year plan to spend 30% of the $10 million opioid settlement—about $2.9 million will be allocated to treatment and prevention programs with fall listening sessions guiding final spending decisions in January 2026.  The Las Cruces Bulletin
