GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Fernando Macias blamed incumbent Gerald Byers for mismanagement and understaffing at the district attorney’s office — with only 70 employees and few attorneys handling thousands of cases — that caused missed deadlines under a state Supreme Court rule.
