- ➤ Love Las Cruces has launched the 31st annual Coats for Kids campaign in Las Cruces to provide over 2000 new coats for children in need — a new cookie dough fundraiser offers six flavors priced from $25 to $27 that come shipped with ice. Donations must be submitted by Sept. 21st and funds will be used to purchase coats by Sept. 30th for local elementary students with possible help for middle and high school students if donations allow. - ➤ More than 400 scholars, students and community members will gather at NMSU for the 25th anniversary of the Imagining America National Gathering on Oct. 3-5. The event will include over 100 speakers and hands-on workshops and local site visits (such as the Las Cruces Museum System) that emphasize community-engaged arts and humanities research. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The League of Women Voters is cohosting two candidate forums—one for school board candidates on September 24 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Karen M. Trujillo Administration Building and one for City Council candidates on September 30 at Las Cruces City Hall Council Chambers—to let voters ask questions of the candidates. The forums are free and open to the public and aim to help voters learn about local issues before the November 4 elections. The Las Cruces Bulletin

- ➤ The Las Cruces United States Bowling Congress has launched a youth bowling scholarship program for kids aged 4 to 18—participants will earn scholarship funds for college that may also be transferred to a sibling if unused. The program will start on September 21, and funds are collected from league member payments and distributed based on team standings. The Las Cruces Bulletin
