CULTURE NEWS

  • Cruces Creatives built an eight‐foot cardboard statue of Ana Gomez Robledo to serve as the centerpiece of Dona Ana County's Dia de los Muertos altar. Commissioned by DAC artistic director Irene Oliver Lewis after a workshop with Eileen Condon, the artwork will be on display at the county building until Nov. 12.  The Las Cruces Bulletin

SPORTS NEWS

  • At Organ Mountain High School, freshman Ashley Galaz and sophomore Daxton Coombs led the cross country team to win district titles on Oct. 31—both earning individual district wins as the boys edged out Centennial by one point and the girls won by 25 points. Rookie head coach Ida Holguin, who took over after longtime coach David Nunez retired, said the team will advance to state on Saturday in Albuquerque.  The Las Cruces Bulletin
  • The NM State women’s basketball team began its season on the road Tuesday, Nov. 4 at the Galen Center against No. 18 USC where Lucia Yenes scored a career-high 27 points and Imani Warren added 11 as the Aggies lost 87-48. The team will face New Mexico Highlands on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 5 p.m. (the game is streaming on ESPN+ with live stats available online).  The Las Cruces Bulletin
